World Day Against Child Labour observed by Wing of Wisdom Foundation in association with United School of Business Management

Bhubaneswar: As today is 12th June, the World Day Against Child Labour, Wing of Wisdom Foundation in association with United School of Business Management, Bhubaneswar has organized this online webinar to enhance the knowledge of participants and to break the chains of child labour in India. We are grateful to Dr. Sanjib Kumar Das, Principal, United School of Business Management for his welcome address and for setting tone of the webinar.

We need our children to grow and flourish. Let’s end the cruel cycle of child labour and protect their childhood. On this World Day Against Child Labour, let’s remember that childhood should be a time of joy, laughter, and education.

This year’s theme is: Let’s act on our commitments: End Child Labour!

Dr. K. Krishnan- Board Member of Wings of Wisdom Foundation, Executive Director of the Foundation for Sustainable Development (FSD) and Convenor of the National Adivasi Solidarity Council shared on the issue of Child Labour, child early marriage, child trafficking and child beggary. Krishnan is a respected trainer on issues related to tribal rights, labour rights, child rights, welfare legislations, education, livelihoods, environment, and serving as social scientist for over 32 years.

Shri. A. K Parashar- Sr.Advisor, Wings of Wisdom Foundation, the Ex-Joint Registrar (Law), National Human Rights Commission shared his experiences from NHRC on Child Labour. Shri. A.K.Parashar is the recipient of the Human Rights Defender, Justice Ranganath Mishra, Karamveer, and Justice V.R. Krishna Iyer Centenary Award.
Asst. Professor in ATLAS SkillTech University, Mumbai. He will be throwing some light on the Standing Committee report on the assessment of the National Policy on Child Labour by PRS Legislative Research

Mr. Jatin Khurana, to share on the Role of key stakeholders in eliminating Child Labour. He is a highly experienced professional with a diverse legal aid coordination, advocacy, and customs regulatory management background. With over 13 years of expertise, he has developed and implemented advocacy and justice strategies for the urban poor nationally.

Mrs. Kanta Mohanty to share on Role of Education in eliminating Child Labour in India. Mrs. Kanta Mohanty is the Governing Body Member, State Adoption Research Agency, Counsellor, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Khordha, Government of India, Social Activist, Training Consultant, and Career Transition Coach. Recipient of the Women Change Maker Odisha Award 2024.

Now is the time to make the elimination of child labour a reality! The Wings of Wisdom Foundation launched a campaign today- “SMILE OF EVERY CHILD”.

Mrs. Anuja Naik, Founder & CEO, Wings of Wisdom Foundation shared some important messages, which would act as reminders for each one of us on World Day Against Child Labour.
“On the occasion of World Day Against Child Labour, let us join hands against this crime which kills the joy of children.”
“Don’t let their childhood get ruined because every child deserves to get education and get play time.

“Hand them with books and not responsibilities because this childhood is never going to come back.
“Small hands are made to hold pens and toys…. Don’t let them hold things which are designed for adults to handle.”
